MountainHaven is currently creating a collection of solid hickory loft beds.

Each bed will provide a moveable shelf at sleeping height suitable for personal items, clock, small lamp, etc. Below the sleeping area is a small work surface suitable for use as a notebook computer work station, or such. The work surface can be easily mounted at either end of the bed and can quickly be moved to the opposite position without any tools. Paired with the work surface is a set of hanging shelves that can also be place at either end of the bed and, again, can be relocated easily without the use of any tools.

Two 3D conceptual draws of the loft bed are show below: a wire frame image as wells as a shaded rendering.

The lifecycle chronology of the project is illustrated and described below. Click on any of the small images to open a full size view in a separate viewing window.

All of the hickory lumber required for one loft bed is stacked at the end of the shop. At this point, all of the lumber has been processed to a precise and consistent thickness. Fabrication work has begun as evidenced by the second stack from the left. Look closely and you'll notice there are two "plates" attached to the face of the planks. These are actually the beginnings of the corner leg assemblies.
